Indoor Physical Activity Tuesday

Good afternoon,

It was a bit of a drab old day here today, so, after running in the occasional rain (sounds better than spit!) after morning tea, we came back inside and finished our fitness courtesy of Go Noodle.

Funnily enough, the same was repeated this afternoon, after singing. Three laps of the field, then four Go Noodle activities, so as Bart Reynolds could upgrade his mustache.

(To be fair, it was only lightly raining when we left the room - it was more steadily raining when we got out to the field!)

And since we only had about five minutes spare before pack up, the children exercised some TRUMP key competencies independently.

And a good time was had by all.

New Term Tidings

Good evening,

And we're back into it! In fact, so much so, that is is all I managed to capture...

The children [trying to] play a game of Chinese Whispers. (We had just finished reading a story where the characters were likewise engaged.)

Galoop's Holidays

Good afternoon,

Over this school break Galoop has been busy...relaxing.

He's played a bit of X Wing...

...he got very excited over the latest Star Wars Episode 7 trailer...







...created a character for the new Star Wars Edge of the Empire Roleplaying Game...






(he quite liked the idea of a playing a Twi'lek Pilot - a tall, green character who's got his own spaceship!)

...but most of all...


...he just chilled out on the couch!

He is looking forward to rejoining the class on Monday!

End of Term Thursday

Good afternoon,

And...


This morning we reflected on the term for a bit...


...kept the normal programme up until 12, had a very cool Easter Liturgy (please have a look at the Facebook feed on the OLA home page), then...

...the children exercised the Key Competencies of Thinking for themselves, Relating to others, Understanding symbols and text, Managing themselves and Participating and contributing...independently.

And a noisy time was had by all.

Medal Wednesday

Good evening,

Sorry for the late post, I was trying to find out more about these...


...loaned to us from Room 9 for the afternoon.

They are the British War Medal, 1914-1915 Star, Victory Medal that belonged to 10/2452 Pte H. Marshall, N.Z.E.F., 1st Wellington Btn, and how he was wounded @ Chunuk Bair from his service records. These state

"appt as cook cancelld 8.8.15; joined Battn. 11.8.15; Dischd Hosp. 3.12.15 [and then they go on to detail his service in France, including an abdominal wound]".

Can't seem to find if he was about to become a cook, of if it means something completely different. The date (August 1915) does seem to imply that he was wounded in the August offensives, and the Wellingtons did capture Chunuk Bair, so that fits...

Thanks Mrs McDowell, they were/are fascinating. And quite a privilege to handle.

Today we also investigated the volumes of our lunch boxes...

...and re-enacted the story of Jesus and the little children.

Speaking of Jesus, please come an join us for an Easter Liturgy tomorrow at 12:00. (So no sports gear in the morning.)
