Just a quick post about some cool wee things I found over the last couple of days.
The first is an Android app for my phone that I'd like to introduce to the class. Rory's Story Cubes.
One fine sunny day two friends were out in the park. One was reading his book, the other playing with his soccer ball. "Hey Bob!", shouted Fred. "Catch this!" Unfortunately, Bob was more a book kind of guy rather than a sportie, so, although he tried again and again and again, Bob just couldn't catch the ball. Fred got a touch frustrated and, under his breath, called out "Achoo-less!" This upset Bob quite a bit - he was trying his best - so Bob ran home crying.
Well, he would have...if it wasn't all a dream!
(It plays a bit quicker live...and a bit quicker still when the phone's not trying to talk to the computer, but you get the idea...)
It's a great wee app - the app selects nine random die from your selection. You get 9 story cubes (+ 9 action cubes for free) for about $NZ 2.95 - there are other sets you can also purchase for the same amount, which is much cheaper than the 10 pounds sterling for the actual dice. Though I do like dice...
You "roll" the dice and then drag them around to make a story.
I've also managed to hook the phone to my laptop so I can project it live on the IWB at school.
Cool!
Also, this.
Have a happy holiday,
Mr Grant
