Thoroughly Thursday

Good afternoon,

And such a fine afternoon it has turned out to be too.

Man it was cold this morning!!

Anyhow...after our Thursday morning meditations...

...we fitness-ed.

And our day carried on. We even integrated a little Maori into our Big Book session.
...as well as some hangman.

Have a nice evening,

Mr Grant

No Photos Wednesday

Opps!

Good afternoon,

Well...I did manage to capture this...

...where we discussed what is, and what isn't, a Holy Object, but other than that you'll just have to trust me that we did other stuff too!

Tuesday Funday

'Cause it was a bit fun!

Good afternoon,

Today, as is our want on a Tuesday, we started with a wee meditation...

...before carrying on with the rest of our day. Specifically, a touch of maths...

...some Reading...

(those are Wellington cable cars...but we've run out of boxes!)

...interspersed with a fair amount of outdoor activity.

That, as well as throwing a bit of Rutherford Team singing into the mix, and, well...

A good time was had by all! :-)

Good afternoon,

Another busy old day was had here in Room 2. We did some phonics...

(great movie, by the way. The 1982 one. I also enjoyed the remake, but, well...it's not really for children...)

...then some big book instruction.

Then we rocked into some reading group instruction...and their associated follow up activities.

After lunch we started a new R.E. unit on Sacrament.

Well, the first thing we had to do was define what Holy meant. It took a bit of doing.

Then come up with a heap of "holy objects"...

...which we will sort out next time.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Saturday's Friday Post

Good morning,

Sorry for the delay in this post.

Not much to report really. The children trotted off to Room 12 for some Maori art and when they came back we read a poem.

Speaking of Maori, here are a few clips taken by Mrs Earl at kapa haka in the afternoon.

And for those wanting to practice at home...

Right...off to the Road to the Regionals, Take 2. Wish me luck!

Same As Thursday

Good evening,

We had another Thursday today. We started off with some meditations...

...and getting back into our numeracy learning with a few changes within and across the numeracy groups.

After MT it was back into some reading...

(I like that, very evocative - surfing on the wind..)

...here Ben creates a safe place for an island hen, as per his book The Safe Place...

...as does one of his group members...

And once again, we finished the last few minutes of the day outside. Along with some early arrivals back from winter sport.

Remember that it's Francis' mufti day tomorrow.

Wednesday's...Wednesday...?

I can't think of an appropriate alliteration.

Actually...

Good afternoon,

This morning we finished fine tuning our numeracy assessment data. I'll now be able to fine tune my numeracy teaching appropriately.

During reading this morning Kakariki Reading Group had Camping Inside. So their follow up activity, of course, was to create an inside campsite.

Very clever stuff!

After lunch, we then continued learning how to have a simple conversation in Maori.

And, since the sun was shining, and they'd been cooped up inside...we spent the last few minutes of the day outside.

And a good day was had by all.

Have a nice evening,

Mr Grant

Tuesday's Tuesday

Good evening,

And welcome to the end of another Tuesday. Not terribly much to report really, today was...well, a Tuesday!

We started with some meditations on God's Word...

...did some maths...

...a spot of Reading...

...and some singing, where we started learning a new song.

Then it was outside for a few games.

Oh, and speaking of things I found on Facebook, I thought this was pretty cool.

I must try to put that up in the classroom somewhere.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant
