Last Days Thursday

Actually, final Thursday, if you think about it. By this time next week I will have already seen Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens!

Good afternoon,

Today was the start of our final...well, all sorts of stuff.

Our final class meditation...

...our final numeracy session...where the children sorted out all of the maths stuff!

And there was a heap of it! Two heaps, in point of fact. Well done Room 2.

For our final writing session we completed a Two Stars, One Wish sheet, which you will see tomorrow. Well, if they followed instructions at least...

And our final Big Book lesson, which was, as is usual for a Thursday, focused on vocabulary.

Our final R.E. session was all about completing the Christmas Wreaths.

The Big Shift happens after morning tea tomorrow - Room 2's moving to Room 3 for the rest of the year! I guess they'll have to get used to being called Room 3 for our final three days! So if you're keen on cleaning...

Thingimebob Thursday

Good afternoon,

Another day, another, well, day really.

We kicked off with the Gospel...

...a bit of Maths...

...some poetry...

...and reading.

Sort of. Big Book, but no little books. Well, actually, very many little books, but the children sorted them out into colour wheel colours, then copies of the same book, so they can be put away for the end of the year. So...no more instructional reading 'till 2016!

The children do seem to be enjoying our Christmas Craft activities, however. They're off to Room 11 in the morning, then Room 1 on Monday.

Tuesday's Tuesday

Good afternoon,

Not much to say really.

We did some maths...

...did some reading...




...and played summer games for P.E.

And that, as they say, was that. With some Rutherford team singing thrown in.

Good afternoon,

Well, another week into it.

The Diamonds were coming to grips with how to make tidy numbers and add the rest to solve addition problems...

...we were all coming to grips with a new way of using adjectives and verbs...

...and the morning was rounded out by coming to grips with a new big book...

...and some other reading based activities.

After lunch...

...we started some Christmas craft.

Evidence of which should, by rights, be found in their reading folders tonight.

Today the Diamonds group (for maths) used tidy numbers to solve addition problems

Good afternoon,

And welcome to the end of the week.

Today we learnt some Maori...

(though to be fair it's going to be easier to say "homai te iPad"...)

...then how to create a 3D shape out of 2D...

Oh, and speaking of Maori, we continued creating ever more sophisticated koru designs.

And after lunch...TRUMP it!

And a good time was had by all.

Funday Friday

...and it has been fun.

Good afternoon,

This morning kicked off, much as it always does...

...but with a slightly larger bunch of hangers on than usual!

And with a full compliment of children.

The first time in a while.

We continued some geometry, looking at shapes with parallel sides, and those that don't.

Then it was on to a bit of poetry...

...a bit of art...the first bit of art in a long time...

...a bit of library...

...interspersed with a bit of Key Competency time.

And a good time was had by all.

Time for a well deserved weekend, I think.
