No Reading Tuesday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after starting with another Salvation focused meditation...

...before choosing independent reading activities while I read with Ma...

...who then, in turn, chose to read another text from their journal as their independent follow up!

More on that later.

We finished the day with Rutherford Team singing.

And a good time was had by all.

Oh, and, well...this was supposed to go home today...

...which it kind of did, but by email.

See you in the morning,

Mr Grant

No Photos Wednesday...

...unless you count these of the choir at their practice for tonight's performance at Horncastle Arena.

As for Room 2, once I got back, well...to be fair, our afternoon was fairly...laid back!

Singing Friday

Well, it was for me.

Good afternoon,

This morning Room 2 split thither and yon so that I could take the choir for one last practice before next week's Music Festival performance on Wednesday.

And once they got back...it was off to the hall for more singing...and then back to Room 2 for yet more singing!

We did at least go to the library.

After lunch the ten that were left from Kapa Haka TRUMP'd it!

Speaking of this afternoon, this afternoon you would have also received an email regarding swimming. Please fill out this form so that we can get initial groupings sorted for Week 4.

Thanks,

Mr Grant

And Room 2.

Oh, and this just in...

Show Me Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning opened...

...and, well, ended...

...with a few Show Me. S.

:-)

Kakariki also tried their hand creating a few Popplets.

Though, to be honest, they didn't have much time to complete them.

After lunch we filled in a Describe [Solo Taxonomy] Map as to why Mary was special.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Fun Day Tuesday

Good afternoon,

Another fun wee day was had here in Room 2 today, including such things as a meditation...

...our last Move 'n Improve session...

...and Rutherford Team singing.

And a good time was had by all!

See you in the morning,

Mr Grant

Reading Monday

Good afternoon,

Not a whole lot to report of today really.

We, well, we started the week much in the same way as last week, did a spot of maths and reading...

(Yeah, sorry about the Green Screening - with that many people in shot one really needs quite bright lighting.)

(You see, with only two, I can move the shot in closer to the light.)

Also we started practicing the whole school production song. Sorry for the spoilers, but it would really help if the children learnt this at home.

Have a nice evening,

Mr Grant

Production Songs...

...for the Rutherford Team

Good afternoon,

In preparation for our singing practices, here are the songs that the Rutherford Team will be learning for the production.

Production Songs

Good Mates (Villagers)
L.J. Silver
Arrh, Jim lad, don’t be a-frettin’!
I may be rough, an’ tough,
A sea-dog through an’ through,
But I knows yer as smart as paint,
And a black-heart I ain’t!

Jim
I’m glad to hear that!

L.J. Silver
So yer know, I’ll tell yer right away:
Any strife that we may go through
I’ll be right there for you!

Jim
Why, thank you, sir!

Chorus
Good mates are trusty,
True and dependable.
Good mates are trusty,
Sailin’ out to sea.

Chorus / L.J.S. / Jim
Good mates, that is what they’ll be.
Good mates, sailin’ out to sea.

Jim
I may be small, I know
There’s lots I need to learn,
And perhaps if I stick with you
I’ll find out what to do!

L.J.S.
Aye! Stick with me, Jim!

Jim
I will try to work hard every day.
Any strife that we may go through
I’ll be right there for you!

L.J.S.
That’s my boy!

Chorus
Good mates are trusty... (as before)

Ben G.
These three years I’ve been alone,
Never seen a soul,
Marooned on this distant isle.
Ev’ry night I dream of cheese,
‘Cos it’s so... savoury!
Oh for a crumb, says I!

(Chorus)
Ben Gunn
Just a little cheese on toast!
Mice
Cheese on toast!
Ben G.
That’s what I want most!
Mice
Cheese on toast!
Ben G.
Little bit o’ cheese, little bit o’ toast.
That’s what I want most!
Mice
Cheese on toast!

(repeat + Chorus, singing ‘we’, not ‘I’.)

Ben Gunn
Have you got a little bit of cheese on you?
Mozarella, cheddar, danish blue?
Mice
Surely you can fi nd a tiny crumb –
Any kind of cheese will do for...

Chorus

Jim
I will see what I can do
When I’m back on board.
I think we have cheese in store.
If the captain says I may
I’ll bring some right away.
That I can promise you.

Ben G.
Mmm!

Chorus

....Just a little cheese on toast!

Gold Yo Ho Ho (Pirates)
Pirates (spoken)
Off we go! Yo, ho, ho!
(Singing)
Gold! Yo, ho, ho!
Gold! Yo, ho, ho! Gold!
Pirates (Spoken)
That’s what we’re after!

Chorus
Steppin’ out ‘n’ singin’,
Soon they will be diggin’.
Raise a cheer for buccaneers!
Pirates bold for ever!
(repeat)

L.J.S. (spoken)
That’ll be the spot! Dig up the lot!

All (singing)
Raise a cheer for buccaneers!
Pirates bold for ever!
Pirates bold_____ for ever!

Hoist the Anchor (Everyone)
All
Hoist the Anchor, rig the sails,
We’re heading out to sea.
Catch the tide and set the course!
We’ll be sailing free!
What about the pirates? They are on their own...
Guess they got what they deserved.
We are sailing home!

Man the ropes and swab the deck,
We’re heading out to sea.
Catch the tide and set the course!
We’ll be sailing free!
What a great adventure, Thanks to Billy Bones!
Stow the treasure! All aboard!
We are sailing home!

Treasure island - sad to say it’s time to go!
Treasure island - time to say farewell!
Farewell to Treasure Island
Where cooling trade winds blow.
Distant hilltops bathed in sunlight,
Rippling rivers fl ow.
Farewell to Treasure Island
Across the clear blue sea,
That was our destination,
Island of dreams.

Farewell to Treasure Island
With golden sandy shores.
Brightly coloured song birds singing.
Through the sky they soar.
Farewell to Treasure Island
A picture postcard scene
That was our destination,
Island of dreams.
Farewell! Farewell!

Ah______________________ island of dreams!

(Bows)

Ah______________________ island of dreams!

I'll put them on separate pages shortly.

Funday Tuesday

Good afternoon,

We had quite a fun old day here at school today, what with some reading...

...singing...

...and P.E....

...and such.

Well, I thought so anyway.

See you in the morning,

Mr Grant
