Actually, final Thursday, if you think about it. By this time next week I will have already seen Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens!
Good afternoon,
Today was the start of our final...well, all sorts of stuff.
Our final class meditation...
...our final numeracy session...where the children sorted out all of the maths stuff!
And there was a heap of it! Two heaps, in point of fact. Well done Room 2.
For our final writing session we completed a Two Stars, One Wish sheet, which you will see tomorrow. Well, if they followed instructions at least...
And our final Big Book lesson, which was, as is usual for a Thursday, focused on vocabulary.
Our final R.E. session was all about completing the Christmas Wreaths.
The Big Shift happens after morning tea tomorrow - Room 2's moving to Room 3 for the rest of the year! I guess they'll have to get used to being called Room 3 for our final three days! So if you're keen on cleaning...

Last Days Thursday

Thingimebob Thursday
Good afternoon,
Another day, another, well, day really.
We kicked off with the Gospel...
...a bit of Maths...
...some poetry...
...and reading.
Sort of. Big Book, but no little books. Well, actually, very many little books, but the children sorted them out into colour wheel colours, then copies of the same book, so they can be put away for the end of the year. So...no more instructional reading 'till 2016!
The children do seem to be enjoying our Christmas Craft activities, however. They're off to Room 11 in the morning, then Room 1 on Monday.
Bye for now,
Mr Grant

Thorgetful Thursday
Good afternoon,
And another lovely afternoon it is too. Should be great for the PTA get together this evening.
Anyhoo...this morning I forgot my phone (!), so all evidence of learning has had to be recorded via iPad. And book work. Oh, and screenshot. For example, we had another interesting verse to meditate on this morning, which we related back to a Room 2 staple, John 3:16.
Speaking of screenshots, here's our big book lesson from this morning....
...as well as the information that Kahurangi were able to gleen from their Junior Journal about muscalids.
Parakaraka also read a song to us, which I'll now try to green screen...though it was recorded on an iPad, so I'm not sure how that will work out...
Bye for now, and see you soon,
Mr Grant

Sun Day Tuesday
Good afternoon,
And a lovely afternoon it has been too. In fact, the weather's been quite nice all day...
I left my phone at work last night, and the charger at home this morning, so you'll just have to trust me when I say we had a good day!
Anyhow, we had a good wee meditation this morning...
...and one thing I did manage to capture...Ma reading Kai Uma.
Also, a couple of the children occupied themselves thusly...
:-)

Thursday's Thursday
Good afternoon,
Not too much to report that was out of the ordinary about today. Rather than class photos. Which I failed to get myself!
This morning we started off with our bi weekly meditations...
...then chugged along with some reading...
...which pretty much finished out morning.
After lunch we got stuck into R.E., specifically marrying up the Fruit of the Holy Spirit with the actions of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Maximilian Kolbe.
One more day to go!
Have a nice evening,
Mr Grant

No Reading Tuesday
Good afternoon,
This morning, after starting with another Salvation focused meditation...
...before choosing independent reading activities while I read with Ma...
...who then, in turn, chose to read another text from their journal as their independent follow up!
More on that later.
We finished the day with Rutherford Team singing.
And a good time was had by all.
Oh, and, well...this was supposed to go home today...
...which it kind of did, but by email.
See you in the morning,
Mr Grant

Back into it Monday
Good evening,
Well, after a couple of weeks disruption, we were back into it today. Well, Values Assembly aside.
In fact, we're so much into the normal swing of things that I forgot to take any photos!
However, two groups of children chose to share a poem and a play at the end of reading off their own bat.
Cool!
We also picked up where we left off with the body unit...
And a good time was had by all!

Final Thursday...
...of this week anyway.
Good evening,
Not only was today the final day of the school week, which we started with, well, the Gospel...
...it was also the final of our swimming fortnight. Today's lessons? Water safety!
We also put aside reading this afternoon so as to have a look at Maximilian Kolbe.
So I set 'em to work to find out what they could...
...before going over this wee clip together and telling Kolbe's story in child speak.
It's a pretty harrowing tale, but...they call Maximilian Kolbe Saint for a reason.
Have a great long weekend,
Mr Grant
